Custom maps FAQ

Can I see a preview of the map I'm buying?

When you select a city, you'll get a preview of how the final print will look. However, please keep in mind that this preview is just an estimate based on one of our existing maps. Once you make the purchase, we'll create a completely accurate artwork, print it, and ship it to you.

How long do the custom prints take to ship? 

Custom prints ship in 3-4 days as they are reviewed by humans in case there are problems (such as an island with no ferries going to it).

Why are there no maps for most cities on islands?

Small islands don't usually have enough of a road network to make for an interesting map so they're discouraged unless they are reachable by ferry.

Why are the Middle East and Western Asia not covered?

There are not enough roads to make these regions recognizable without a coast.

Can I create a map of roads showing just one country?

We have country maps of the US, Canada, France, Spain with Portugal, UK, etc.

What happens if there's a problem generating the map that I've requested?

We will contact you in case the map can't be generated.

Can I choose the size and frame style?

Absolutely! You can pick the size and optional frame style for your custom maps, just like our ready-made prints.

Can I choose the map bounds or which countries are shown on the map?

Currently you can only choose bounds from the collection. Some of them show a single country (India, Japan, US) while others show an entire continent (Europe, Africa). If you have requests, contact us!

Why are custom maps slightly more expensive than ready-made ones?

Custom maps need to be generated from scratch, requiring a significant amount of time and computing power. Additionally, they are always reviewed by humans before being sent for printing.
